Random Musings of a Banded Bad-Ass (not really)....

Hello 230s! It's Been a Loooong Time!

On Sunday, I weighed in at 239.5 for The Challenge, and today I saw 238 for a fleeting moment, and I was feeling great, like I am finally getting into territory where I'm not totally self-conscious about my weight. 95 el-bees down ain't too shabby for this band soldier.

And then, it happened again. I met an old colleague for lunch, someone I have not seen in about six months, and whom I see only about twice per year. Nil. Nada. Nunca. She made no comment about my smokin' new bod (just humor me, girls). I remember when I met her in June, I was disappointed that she did not notice my loss, but that was 45 pounds ago. Ninety-friggin'-five pounds pounds down, and I get a comment about my "cute sweater". Really? In her defense, my sweater was really cute.

Alas, I'll just keep on keepin' on, cause that's how I roll.

  1. Great job! And I soooo hear you on the people around you not saying anything. How could they NOT notice! Well, recently I accidently overheard a co-worker make a comment about me "wow, she really looks great, she's really lost a lot" but the kicker is, she never said it directly to ME? So people DO notice, but for some reason they might not tell ya. Who knows why! Just know that you are doing awesome and should be so proud of your progress. Keep it up!

  2. Sigh...

I think the people that don't see us often enough don't see what's happening. And the people that see us every day don't notice, either. It's a real trick to get that balance of when their memory is right and when their memory becomes skewed. I had a friend in July tell me I "looked like I always looked". She'd NEVER seen me at that weight before...

Oh well. We aren't doing this for them, anyway. So keep on keepin on! 95 pounds is awesome!!!!

  3. Glad you found my blog! I'm glad to find yours and look forward to catching up with your story. 95 down, woohoo! I know whatcha mean about people not saying anything. I get my feelings hurt too. I saw my MIL almost 6 months ago when my baby was 6 weeks old. I lost 25 pounds since then and when I saw her last week she didn't say a single. freakin. word. Luckily I then went to the salon and the girl who does my hair was like, "Oh my gosh, you've lost weight haven't you?!" So that made me feel better. It makes you feel good when your efforts get recognized. Who knows, maybe that was just ONE HOT SWEATER to upstage a 95 pound loss!!!
